Miint is built on a simple principle: your financial data belongs to you.
The detailed policy below explains how we handle your data. But the short version? We keep as little as possible, for as short as possible.
Miint ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our financial management platform and related services.
By using Miint, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
When you use our HMRC Making Tax Digital features, we collect and transmit fraud prevention headers to HMRC as required by law. These include your IP address, device identifier, browser user agent, screen dimensions, timezone, and window size. This data is sent directly to HMRC with each API request and is not stored by us beyond the duration of the request.
All data is stored in the United Kingdom. We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption at rest and in transit, access controls, and regular security assessments.
We use third-party service providers for infrastructure, authentication, data storage, AI processing, payment processing, and blockchain data retrieval. Each provider is selected for their security practices and compliance standards. By using our services, you acknowledge that certain data may be processed by these providers in accordance with their respective privacy policies.
We use Stripe, Inc. ("Stripe") as our payment processor for subscription billing. When you subscribe to a paid plan, your payment card details are collected directly by Stripe through their hosted checkout page — your card details never touch our servers.
Stripe processes the following personal data on our behalf:
Stripe acts as a data processor under UK GDPR. Their processing is governed by Stripe's Data Processing Agreement and Privacy Policy.
The lawful basis for this processing is contract performance (Article 6(1)(b) UK GDPR) — processing your payment is necessary to deliver the service you have subscribed to.
We store only your Stripe customer identifier and subscription status in our database — we never store card numbers, CVVs, or billing addresses. If you exercise your right to erasure, we will delete your Stripe customer record alongside your account data.
If you are VAT-registered, you can reclaim the VAT charged on your Miint subscription as a business expense.
We minimise data storage. Specifically:
We minimise retention periods for your financial data. You can delete your data at any time from within the app. Your account settings and preferences are retained for as long as your account is active.
We do not sell your personal data. We may share data only in these circumstances:
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
